I love a high quality and functional, flat leather collar. While bling can be nice, I am not a person who wants my dogs dripping in rhinestones walking into the obedience ring. I also believe high quality includes quality leather with finished edges and quality hardware.
My leather collars are made with either hand cut water buffalo leather or English Bridle leather. Leather edges are beveled and sealed prior to assembling. And hardware is either stainless steel or solid brass.
As everything I do is custom made for your dog, you have completely control over all of the details. How many holes do you want on the collar? How far apart do you want the holes? While this may sound trivial, if you are presenting your dog at a competition, do you want four or five extra inches of leather hanging off of the buckle? Personally, most of my dogs' collars only have 4 holes on them. And, because my dogs are full grown, I only put the holes 1/2" to 5/8" apart to accommodate the slight fluctuations of neck size based on their coat.
